Know What You Want Before You Buy Timeshare Resort
Timeshare has little to do with sharing time with other people. It is basically about buying the rights to use a piece of property. And not just any property, we mean property that you will want to spend time in for vacation. Which is why you need to pacing and taking it slow before you buy timeshare resort. At its very basic, timeshare refers to the right to own a property and to use it. The most typical of timeshare properties is the good old condominium unit. But more and more you will find timeshare resorts. And just as there are many resorts, there are also different kinds of timeshares: deeded timeshare, right-to-use timeshare, among others.
You can own a timeshare like you would own a house or a piece of land, although there are variations or types. One type of timeshare allows you to have a complete ownership of a property. In this case, your purchase will come with a deed of sale. Another form of timeshare operates on a leasing system or a points system. Although their differences are obvious differences, the fundamentals are the same - timeshare is a unit of real estate that you can buy, sell, or trade.
Not all timeshares are created alike, and there are actually timeshares that are just small shares. These are what you can call “token shares” or shares that you can use to use a resort for an extended time period, give as a gift, exchanged internally by members of a group of resorts, or exchanged externally with members of others resorts.
There are some things you need to keep in mind when you want to buy timeshare resort.
- Keep in mind that timeshares are not investment vehicles. You buy them for the experience of an extended stay at a resort. So have that kind of mindset when you’re on the prowl for some timeshare that you can buy. Will you want to vacation in that resort for years to come?
- Know what you want in a vacation place. Remember, you’re buying for the vacation experience. So, follow your bliss and list down all things you’d like in a vacation resort. Do you like the beach? Or do you like something a little more earthly? Price should not be your only consideration in buying timeshare. You should also know your tastes.
- When you’re planning on your next holiday, make sure that you have on your itinerary to visit timeshare resorts. Get a tour guide if you need to, and talk to timeshare owners about their experiences. You will find that doing a little research helps you a lot in choosing which timeshare resorts are best for you.
- Before signing any document related to your purchase of a timeshare, make sure that you have thoroughly read and more importantly, thoroughly understood, the terms and stipulation of the timeshare. Don’t be shy about asking the resort’s representatives if there’s anything you do not understand in the document.
